What a great movie. It looked pretty dark from the previews so that’s why I rented it, as usually martial art films are pretty repetitious. When I saw in the openning credits that it was written by Luc Besson (“The Fifth Element”, amongst other great movies) I had a feeling this would be good.
When I read some of the reviews on NetFlix I was kind of surprised … and disappointed. A lot of viewers seemed to want constant fight scenes or a different kind of character acting. Go figure … no accounting for taste.
Don’t Be Happy. Worry.
There was a time, not too long ago, when America was fearless. No more. Oh, we watch NASCAR and the NFL and think we kick major ass. But what’s on the screen between the games and the races?
Ads about worrying about your credit score.

Cholesterol. Erectile Disfunction. More insurance. Identity theft. And on and on and on it goes.
It’s a sad state of affairs when the most uplifing commercials on TV are for cars. Cars sell on style and performance and quality. OK, so half of it is lies, but you don’t’ buy a car out of fear. You buy it to go places and do…
OK. So the Patriots didn’t make it. Didn’t think they would. Just too much to overcome this year and they weren’t hungry. For next year, though, they will be. They’ll still be pissed about the way they handed Denver the game in the conference playoff game.
I’m not surprised Indy lost. They have the same problem they always had, great regular season, can’t win The Big One. Nothing’s changed in over a decade.
So lets look at the four teams going into the final round:
I was really looking forward to this movie. “Firefly” was one of the great science fiction TV shows, a true hidden classic; and the previews of Serenity looked like it was one of the few TV-to-Big-Screen properties that would actually have the theatrical feature be as good or better than the TV show.
What separates Serenity/Firefly from most other of the sci-fi genre is the writing and the cast. So many shows try to manufacture either drama or special effects. Firefly had decent effects, and strong dramatic moments, but what made the show work was the way the characters interacted with each other and with their world.
WordPress 2.0 is out, so figured I may as well upgrade the site. They did a nice job updating the back-end. The cache kind of wigged out during the upgrade, spent 20 minutes trying to figure out why none of the new settings would take; otherwise the update was painless and all the plug-ins I’d been using seem to work.
