No Three-peat
It had to end sometime. It’s a shame it went down the way it did, with the Patriots more or less handing the game to Denver with turn-overs at the worst possible times. The Pat’s could have won and, had a couple of calls gone the other way, probably would have. The defense had Denver’s offense more or less stuffed – except when they were given a short field from the TO’s.
That pass interference call in the first half on Samuel kind of broke the game, though. The entire momentum swung on that call. It really sucks when referees blow a call, but when they blow it because of home field fans making noise that’s even worse. It was a late flag and the flagged the wrong person. And that pretty much decided the game.
Oh well. The Patriots weren’t even expected to get this far at the midway point of the season. So as usual they over-achieved.
And now they’re pissed off too. You could see it on the side lines. They know they didn’t play well, they know the officials screwed them. Look out for these guys next year. They’ll be healthy and (hopefully) they’ll get the running game back. And with Harrison back and Dillon healthy, they’re pretty much perfect again.
As I’m writing this I can’t believe the Steelers are up on the Colts 21-3. I hate seeing the Steelers win, but losing today would be a devestating blow for the Colts. For this entire decade it was the Patriots who denied them their trip to the Superbowl. Now if they can’t even handle the Steelers that will leave a lot of doubt about just how good the Colts really are.
