OK. So the Patriots didn’t make it. Didn’t think they would. Just too much to overcome this year and they weren’t hungry. For next year, though, they will be. They’ll still be pissed about the way they handed Denver the game in the conference playoff game.

I’m not surprised Indy lost. They have the same problem they always had, great regular season, can’t win The Big One. Nothing’s changed in over a decade.

So lets look at the four teams going into the final round:

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Denver Broncos. I pick the Broncos. They are too tough at home, they’ll pound Big Ben like hamburger. And the Steelers have a similar problem as the Colts. They always seem to fall short when it’s all on the line. Each year they get a little further, but each year they always blow it. The Steelers over-acheived to beat Indy, I don’t see that happening again. The only question I have is Denver’s offense. Were it not for all the Patriots turn-overs, they probably wouldn’t have scored 10 points with their offense. But the Steelers D isn’t the Patriots, so I still pick Denver by 12.

Carolina Panthers @ Seattle Seahawks. This is a tough call. On paper the Seahawks are the team to go with. But the Panthers defense is pretty tough. I have to give the nod to Seattle, though – especially at home. Seahawks by 6.

Even if the Steelers somehow beat the Bronco’s, either of the NFC teams will beat the Steelers. I just do not want to see the Steelers get to the Big Game – with the exception of Jermone Bettis. He deserves it.
